INGREDIENTS:
(for 15 pieces)
For the dough:
1 cup tahini
2 tbsps honey
1 cup lukewarm water
1 tsp baking powder
3 cups all-purpose flour
For the filling:
½ cup golden raisins
½ cup walnuts, coarsely-chopped
½ cup candied fruit
½ cup orange jam
2 tbsps honey
rose water
powdered sugar
cinnamon
INSTRUCTIONS:
For the dough:
In a bowl, mix together the tahini, honey and water.
Add the baking powder and flour, and knead.
Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
For the filling:
Mix all of the filling ingredients together, and set aside.
Final steps:
Roll out the dough into a thin sheet.
Using a cutter, cut the dough into circular shapes, each about 8 to 10cm in size.
Put a little filling on each of the round sheets.
Fold the dough – forming a crescent-like shape – and seal the edges using a fork, just like we do when making small cheese pies.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes in a pre-heated oven set at 180 degrees Celsius, until they brown.
Sprinkle the pies with the rose water while they are still hot.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
Allow to cool, and then serve.
